Trans Sud
Trans Sud Limitada is a company established in Chile in 2003, the result of an association between Sudamericana de Metales and the US-based market leader in fertilizers Transammonia Inc.
Its work focuses on the import/export and distribution of sulphuric acids, sulphur as well as undertaking logistical services related to these products.
Sulphuric acid is industrially produced from the abatement of gases rich in sulphur dioxide (SO2). These gases are produced deliberately by burning elemental sulphur or, unintentionally, as the result of gases originating from toasting or the combustion of copper or zinc sulphate concentrates.
Sulphuric acid is mainly used in the production of fertilizers and when leaching cooper minerals.
Trans Sud Limitada is an active participant in the mining industry in Peru and Chile and it also acts in tandem with Transammonia in the Brazilian fertilizer market.
